Please bring back random player! And let me start more games than 3 per day. Why else did I pay for becoming a VIP?

Bring it back and make it Random!! not geographically near... it's not as fun anymore!

They simply are not listening. This is what always seems to happen when people take a winning recipe and then meddle with it, particularly in effort to squeeze cash out of it. I was upset when the change happened but now I don't really care and have lost interest. I haven't played in three weeks and am about to delete the app even though I was VIP. I guess it was good in that it helped break my addiction to what used to be a great game. Oh well, on to another app...

I agree with Stevesmaill. I quite playing light last night because I lost the random selection. I really liked that choice. Please put the random selection back. Also I agee with idea of being able

to select the playlists you bought. I have purchased eight playlists and I hardly ever get them as a choice.  It is a great idea by Stevesmaill to add that feature. Please keep your players in mind when you, SongPop, decided to rearrange an already good app. Thank you

So I sent another message to them as from the first response I received it says that the "issue was solved", which is annoying to say the least. However, here we go:

Money Penny, Jan 12 02:39 (EST):

Please respond on the forum page so that the many players who have valid complaints are all asking for more information. My understanding of the word "solved" on an issue is when there is a problem that is repaired or fixed rather than just answered with a system generated response. If you look at the Forum page that we are using as players to demonstrate the amount of frustration and massive disappointment that this has caused, it is clearly indicated that this is not just a few players complaining. It is logical to pay attention to the public that pay money for your application, they are starting to decline and I would surmise from the amount of information I am getting from members, is that you are about to lose a sizable portion of the generated income that is so necessary in order to keep your application and your business going. Please post something on the page. And just for future, don't you think it would have made more sense to ask people to volunteer to be in a PILOT project rather than just assuming they would like to?
Please forward this request to an appropriate Team Leader or the like.

The link for the forum for this problem is here: https://songpop.zendesk.com/entries/22650587-bring-back-random-player-feature-please

And...here's the response from Jess who appears that yes, is human, and must advise us to "Rock On". (Sigh.)

    Hello,

We do not have system generated responses. I am a human, answering all your questions.

The SongPop Team is always paying attention to what the users are saying and working hard to make SongPop a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

As I do with all feedback, I will forward this to the SongPop Team so they know you're feelings on this subject. I am just a support person, I have nothing to do with the features of the app or what the developers do in game. I just answer questions the best I can with the information I have.

    Thank you for playing SongPop!

I am so frustrated with this. This seems to just have happened for me 2 days ago that my random player was gone. I can only start a game with 3 new players per 20 hour period. This is ridiculous!!!! I paid for VIP so that I can have more games.... now I am not sure why I got VIP since clearly I can only play a couple people and I am not going to get the 80 we are allowed. It is just not fun now. The best player matches take days to respond. I liked about random that it would usually be people that were online and respond quickly. What a waste.

This is the annoying answer I've got from the masters of stupidity:

    Support, Jan 11 17:26 (EST):

    Hi There,

    Thank you for contacting us.

The random feature has been replaced with something better: Best Match!

Best Match finds people near you with similar music taste. This feature is brand new and isn't available to everyone just yet. For now, only American SongPop users do not have access to this. You cannot opt out of this feature.

We hope this information was helpful. Please contact us if you have any further questions, we are here to help.

    Thank you for playing SongPop!

Well, at least someone answered. I'm not interested in playing with my neighborhood. I want to play with other people of the planet. Arbitrary decision !

I recently paid for the VIP feature for one year and I am also very disappointed with the removal of the Random Challenge feature.  I can now only challenge three new people a day which really eliminates the main advantage of being a VIP -- having up to 80 challenges.  If I could go back to two weeks ago when I paid for the VIP feature, I would not do so.  I think this is just an effort by Song Pop to get people to use Powerups to create challenges.  Of course, Powerups are purchased with coins and coins can be purchased with actual dollars.  So ultimately this is an effort by Song Pop to get people to pay to play.  At the very least, I think VIP members should be allowed to create random challenges until their maximum of 80 challenges is met.

if anyone is reading this and pondering purchasing VIP ...., don't do it.

Be sure to update your review in the App Store/Playstore to reflect this BONEHEADED move by SongPop because likely nobody will read about this stupidity here until it is too late. You can review both the free and paid app if you paid for it to get the word out.  The assumption that nobody pays attention from SongPop to their own message boards is silly. If they really are ignoring us they deserve every lost app purchase we can generate.  Or, more likely, they probably are listening and me and my post will magically disappear.

I am extremely disappointed with the recent changes to this game.  I paid money for this app and I've been loving it; however, now we have to use power ups just to initiate more than 3 new games per day???  Give me a break!  What if we use a power up to initiate a game and the opponent we get matched with immediately ends the match without even playing? This scenario happens to me ALL THE TIME.  How about instead of charging a power up to start a game, you instead charge a power up to end a game without playing more than x amount of rounds?  This might weed out the people who only want to play someone who selects the same exact type of music that they are familiar with.  Also, why does my geographic location make me more "suitable" an opponent that someone else in another part of the country or world??  Your changes stink.  I'm sure this is a ploy to get us to PAY MONEY for power ups.  I will NEVER pay money for power ups.  I'll quit playing if it comes to that.  I'm all for making a game better--but in this case, it's a huge case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!  SongPop is one of the most popular games out there right now.  Listen to this feedback the players (i.e. your CUSTOMERS) are giving you and take this as an opportunity to make things right with us.  It's obvious greed over customer satisfaction is at play here, especially for those of us who have already paid you for the ad free app, which, by the way, is also crap, since I still get all your dumb pop up SongPop/Bon Jovi/Kei$ha ads with it.

This is stupid...! What the hell did i pay for when i got VIP!?!? I'm going to free version and telling everyone i know to do same. Random needs to come back!!

These past two days i have tried your new, and DUMB, Best Match feature....not one of the 6 people i challenged responded. I paid for VIP so i could access others who love music, are online, and will respond. W the random feature, if someone didn't respond, you could move on to someone else. This game, and it's VIP feature, are now completely lame. I am searching for new music trivia apps so i can dump this one! People: there are other apps better out there. DO NOT BUY THIS VIP BS...ITS A DAMNED SCAM. DUMP SONGPOP...FIND SOMETHING BETTER.

I AGREE WITH SCOTT ABOVE..WE PURCHASED VIP SO WE COULD HAVE UP TO 80 GAMES...NOW, IF THEY EVEN RESPOND TO CHALLENGES AT ALL, WE CAN ONLY HAVE 3 NEW ONES IN A 20 HR PERIOD..THAT IS CRAP. SONGPOP WANTS TO SUCK MONEY FROM PLAYERS BY TRYING TO MAKE THEM BUY POWERUPS. DUMP PAID VERSION, AND GO W THE FREE ONE...ATLEAST THEN YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR...NOTHING!!!!!

Against the Best Match feature should be a figure showing the average number of games that person plays per week. I wan't to play against someone who takes SongPop seriously and doesn't just play a couple of games per week.

The two times...y'know, in 40 hrs!, I've gotten to challenge someone in Best Match, not a damned one has responded. I am so upset. This was the only game i enjoyed that i NEVER lost interest in...way to screw it up for everyone!

this mew way really really sucks!! first of all ot does not accurately state the city I love in. secondly I should NOT have to use powerups to challenge someone or to shifflr the list. thirdly, it is much more fun to play with people from all over & not just the state I live in. I sober if anyone even pays attention to these comments!! there are an awful lot of people that are UNHAPPY with this new change!! I would also like to know why it force closes all the time, & noome even answered my email as to why I slipped to vip status & it made me start all over again, so I cancelled it!!

I just started playing song pop and I was really loving it. For the first few days it still had random match. I even upgraded to premium, which I still have not been able to use yet but this best match thing just sucks. It is terrible. There is no way to get to your 20 challenges while waiting for the next round of best matches to appear. What a waste of a great game.

For all those complaining about a lack of games, I'll repeat my workaround to get "random" games:

When creating a new game, select "Username", then type any common name, like "Anne C" or "John B"

Not all people will play. In fact, few will. Then again, best matches often don't play either. But even if your opponent doesn't play, you'll get some practice. And you can delete games with people who don't play, and try again until you find opponents who will play... as many times as necessary.

Even if the "way around" it is to type random letters I still think this new feature of "best match", and then having to either wait it out for the other player to respond, or PAY for a best match shuffle (totally ridiculous!) is a HORRIBLE idea.

Although I'm glad there is a "way around" this horrible new feature, I still won't play as often as I did before because it just seems like a hassle.  I was about to quit playing the game altogether because of the "best match" feature.  It is totally inconvenient, time consuming and a rip off of my hard earned coins.

On top of that, I don't care about playing with another player who has similar playlists! I actually enjoy playing with people who put up playlists I'm not used to because I then get the opportunity to learn new songs!!!  Bottom line is that best match needs to be deleted and random player needs to be brought back.

SongPop, stop trying to fix things that aren't broken!!!

Emily is completely right, one of the greatest parts of the game is the ability to discover new music. It makes it a lot more fun than it would be otherwise. It gets REALLY boring when you  play with someone that just uses the same exact playlists over and over and over!!

I don't care if I always score well, it's more fun to have it be a challenge!

Please bring back random player list.  Who wants to play with someone on your own level?  We want to play with people with different abilities.to improve our own.  Why pay for VIP.  I will never do it again thats for sure.
