For those of us who have been playing from the beginning, Songpop is aware there was no confirmation screen for many months and many early adopters that made this game the huge hit it is accidentally bought lists not just unaware of what tracks were on them, but completely by accident. I am an almost-50 year  old ex hippie who accidentally bought dance, trip hop whatever that means, electronic and many others by taping too quickly or in the wrong place. As the OP noted now there are as many as 6 new lists a week - I have well over 40 and still not a turn comes up that at least one of three often three of three are lists I bought in error - you can see that I have never  a single request. If we don't want a refund and just want to quarantine or delete a list, why not allow us to do so? I agree that it would actually make me play more often as certain lists like the classic rock and 80's (us) and 90's alt have just grown tedious. I do so hope someone is listeningto the players - as of yesterday we can now see who's on tour and send songs to in-game friends, it seems like adding one more new feature n't tax the development team too much and should be brought to the attention of those who deal both with PR and  those who look at the bottom line.I would even pay a SMALL fee to lose a few, or to open a "locker" for playlists.

This is rather of like the Government! We talk and talk and talk, all wanting the same exact thing; that of getting rid of ridiculous playlists. But noone listens! We talk in vain with no results. Why in fact even have a 'COMMENT' section to question and never be heard. Questions ask for answers and it seems there are none here. This apparently is run by a robot.

Exactly the point Kahmero. They don't listen.
SongPop will do what SongPop will do, at SongPop's pace and SongPop's schedule.
Their customers? The people who play the game? Not important. Sad isn't it?

I've seen this multiple times...No one cares that you don't like the fact that Modern Rap is a default genre. Oh well. Get over it. I don't like the Rock genre & when it pops up...I look over it. The point of the default genres is to accommodate someone from every walk of life. Not just pop & country. Hip Hop genres should equally be represented as well. SMH.

    For anyone interested...
If you don't like any of the three song categories that come up when it's your turn to play, do the following (this works on the iPhone app anyway):
    1. Remember the name of the person you are currently playing
    2. Press the home button to exit the game
    3. Double click the home button so the list of active apps shows up
    4. Press and hold the SongPop icon until the icons start the wiggly-thing with the red delete button
    5. Click the delete button on the wiggly SongPop icon to remove it from the list of active apps (No, it won't delete the app from your phone)
    6. Click the home button again to cancel the wiggly-action
    7. Start up SongPop again
    8. Select the game you were playing (see step 1!)
    9. You'll now see a new list of three song categories to choose from.

    Voila!

Is this cheating? I don't consider it cheating if the list of categories aren't ones that I bought, or are ones I bought but dislike.

    Cheers

MoniQua you have nothing to contribute to this.  Modern rap should not be a default genre-end of discussion.  Less than half of the population listens to rap, it should not be forced on us. Your analogies are invalid since country is not given as a default.  The other defaults are all the most common genres of music listened to by the general public.  Whether you like it or not, many people do not consider rap to be real music-there is really no point for you to come on here and stand up for hip hop.

What proof do you have that half the population listens to hip hop??  Not all of it's guns bitches and bling either.  Some of it's pretty darn good and far better than any tosh white people come up with (this coming from a white person).  I took a while to understand it but once I got it, I was hooked.  Stop giving it such a bad press people!  Investigate before you insinuate!

BY THE WAY SONGPOP DON'T GIVE A FLYING SHIT ABOUT US.  I'VE EMAILED THEM COUNTLESS TIMES AND THEY DON'T REPLY.  THEY USED TO EXIST ON HERE NOW THEY DON'T.  PATHETIC AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICES.

I have nothing to contribute to this? LOL! I'm not about to argue on a SongPop forum with an idiot that can't recognize and respect all genres of music other than the ones they listen to. It's shows ignorance and being close minded is not something that I can change in others. The only reason I brought up Country is because it's not a genre of music I like but just because I don't like it... doesn't mean I don't value it's representation in the game or a music genre. And as far as hip hop not being considered as real music......LOL... that statement is so ridiculous I'm not going to entertain it!!!! If you haven't noticed.... millions of people around the world, of all races pay for tickets to sold out concerts to go see that "music" so say what you want to say... it wont stop SongPop or the people that make the music! It's here to stay whether u like it or not loser! SMH!

Adding the ability to delete a purchased playlist would be a new function in the game. It would require new programming. I guess what they're saying is that, though whoever is running this thing knows how to add new playlists (which is an already-programmed function, they just type in a name and enter it into a database, like creating a new category in Quicken) they don't know how to re-write the game code to add anything new. They bought the game code from someone, and they're not paying to have it updated.
We'll see. If any new functions do show up,  and the ability to delete purchased playlists is still not there, then we'll know they are just being jerks. But that would make no sense: we've repeatedly said we'd pay (at least using the same in-game coins) to be able to discard choices we don't like. A shame they have no talented programmers on staff. It's kind of embarrassing, actually. Oh well.

I don't really want to delete any of my playlists but it would be great to temporarily disable them in some form. Allow others to send me challenges from those genres but take them out of the list of available challenges sent from my side. I burn thru a lot of powerups that way, otherwise I'd have 100,000 coins by now.

I've got a couple of irritating bad buys: I hate 80s alternative the most (I had no idea how alternative things got in the 80's, apparently). But, your "K-Pop" (Korean) has me beat all up and down. :)

I would like to delete some playlists like techno and power pop, because there aren't what I thought they were. I have 68 playlists, surely these will not make me lack. No one ever sent me a challenge these types of music.

Actually since I cannot delete playlists I don't like...I won't buy another new one! We're not asking for the money back! What's the delay or big deal? Do it now!!! I'm afraid to buy one now, for fear ill be stuck with it for life. You would make a lot more money if you added this feature. If not ...it's like slapping your users in the face!!!!!!!

Yes Jerry, it's quite obvious and frustrating that it's all about money. An easy fix that could have been done months ago. At the end of the day the only way we (us players) can fix this is to boycott playing in a united front. Maybe I should start a Facebbok page dedicated to a boycott.....or maybe it's not worth my time as nobody will participate.

How can I erase a list of songpop???

You can't erase a playlist. You likely never will be able to...not with the existing app.
I had a discussion with their customer support who told me they'd have to rewrite the whole app in order to accomplish this (as well as other feature requests like filtering "adult content").
So, stop playing and wait for SongPop2..or continue playing and use the "close the app/reopen the app" technique to try to get a better playlist selection.
As an iPhone app developer, I call bullshit on their customer service response. It would NOT take an entire rewrite to make the change requests. Here's the real answer...they'll make NO extra money by making these changes in an app you already own.
Monetization is always the answer. Expect SongPop2 to be almost exactly like the existing app, but with many more in-app purchases.
You want the ability to erase a playlist? You'll have to pay real money for it.
You want to filter adult content so you don't hear the F-bomb in all the shitty rap songs? You'll have to pay for it.
As a developer, that's precisely what I'd do. Gotta make money somehow right?

well Larry, that's exactly what many of us are saying here. I enjoy SongPop, but I stopped paying for VIP several months ago for this reason, and posted here that that was why I wasn't paying for VIP. I win 90+% of my rounds, and enjoy the game, but the game publisher seems intent on the "create more goofy playlists, sell more coins" model. I buy a new playlist with my coins about once every 2 months, and all with coins i've earned playing. I also spent 1600 coins on powerups recently so I can shuffle anytime i don't like the playlists, also all earned playing.

Until they put up a playlist I know I will enjoy--I never buy them--love 80's alt and new wave - but I stick to those 2 and Disco, Classic Rock and a few others--they keep putting up bizarre playlists because I am sure the artist pays them to promote them like Kevin Borg--who the hell is he? Robin Thicke? and so many less notable artists like the Jonas Brothers and Pitbull? I requested Depeche Mode--they already have a lot of their songs - I would pay for that, but it won't happen as well as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones--Its all about money--I just keep my coins from winning to avoid the awful Country playlists-can't stand that genre and there are so many--I wish songpop would put up what the players want--not just playlist that artists pay to promote--not more than a few people would pay for an unknown swedish idol award winner......

First of all, if you check a playlist, when you come back out, it takes you straight to the start of playlist options again :/

Secondly, what are you taking about paying!? The playlists are free, if you're a good enough player.

Please figure out a way to either delete a list or trade it for something else. One of the lists you started with was Modern Rap. The next modern rap I listen to will be the first. The name of the game is Song Pop. Modern rap is neither.
