    Cool suggestion, Brad!

    Additions to California:
Dionne Warwick - Do You Know the Way to San Jose?
(and more obscurely, two songs that reference US Highway 101 near Los Angeles)
    America - Ventura Highway
Tori Amos - A Sorta Fairytale

    Additions to Louisiana:
Lucinda Williams - All the Way to Jackson
    Lucinda Williams - Crescent City
    Lucinda Williams - Lafayette
(and possibly more ... also, good catch on 'Minneapolis,' a wonderful sad-bitter song)

    Addition to Texas:
Tift Merritt - Stray Paper (really obscure passing reference to Houston, her birthplace)

    Also, for Nevada:
Katy Perry - Waking Up in Vegas

A HUGE list of songs about California.  It seems the Wikipedia community has been REALLY busy ...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_about_California

And an even BIGGER list of songs about New York City:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_about_New_York_City

And there may well be more per-state song lists there, since this represented just a minute or two of searching ... wow, just wow.

There's definitely a ton of songs about New York, LA and Memphis, but I was trying to keep it from being totally dominated by those three places haha.

Here's a few more for Minnesota: Funkytown - Lipps Inc. (It's actually about the band members living in Minneapolis and wanting to move to NY) Girl from the North County - Bob Dylan (about his hometown in Northern Minnesota) Mall of America - Desaparecidos (It's conveniently located in the city!) Skyway - The Replacements (this song is all about the band's memories from Minnesota) Rock 'n' is Alive (and it lives in Minneapolis - Prince (no explanation needed) I'd also recommend Shhh by Atmosphere since it's all about Minnesota, but I don't think Atmosphere is currently making it into SP.
